Black & White Sunday: After & Before

Generally I am very selective while choosing the subject for monochromes. No point just converting a color image to monochrome unless there is a need. I just want you to tell me converting this image to monochrome makes sense? or you would rather keep the color one?

      1. Color doesn’t just give dreamy appearance but also shows every tiny image clearly which make beautiful things more beautiful. Black and White no doubt is classy sometimes but when you want to show the colors of life, it limits the beauty.

Definitely colors are beautiful.. but without those millions shades of color … monochromes have their own advantages… specifically when the intent of the photographer to play with lights and contrasts…

For this one, I like the color one. Maybe, it’s because that is what I normally see when I am out in the field taking photos. 🙂

To me it makes perfect sense :). The contrasts you managed to get in monochrome are terrific, and more detail is obvious. Thank you, Raj. I love it.

The monochrome looks beautiful. I think that the charm of monochrome takes over color many times. Check this out when you get time – http://happinessandfood.com/from-the-streets-of-hong-kong/

Is it possible that you edited the B&W photo after you converted it to B&W? The background is much cleaner… more white (black) space. As for now, I Like the B&W better, but if you can the background of the colored photo to make it darker (like the color on the top left) and cleaner, I have a feeling that I will like the colored one better. 😉

Thanks for the valuable feedback Helen.. the block and white version yes I do bit of processing on them, becuase treatment for color and b&w are different as objectives are different. But, as you pointed I have not done any region specific edits(top left).. basically when color was converted to mono chrome the lighter colors got converted to black. Yes.. as you said in color if it covert those colored background to black it might be visually better looking…!! But its too much of time behind the computer… Now a days I totally avoid for the photo edits… simple adjustments only… 🙂
